The Giving Journey
Jesus taught that how we spend our money is an indication of what really matters most to us.
As we grow in total devotion to Jesus, we should also grow in our generosity. And it’s not because God wants our money... it’s because he wants our hearts.
Where are you on the journey?
FIRST TIME GIVER:
This is a big deal. Money is important to everyone and to give any of it to God is a huge step of faith and trust. Here’s what we want you to see... Giving isn’t just a financial thing. It’s a spiritual thing.
CONSISTENT GIVER:
This is someone who has decided that every time they get paid they are going to give something. This often leads to setting up automated, recurring giving online.
INTENTIONAL GIVER:
This is someone who is intentional about making their giving to God a priority in their life and their budget. The key here is to pray about what percentage of your income would you give so that God is the most important thing in your life.
SACRIFICIAL GIVER:
This type of giver regularly evaluates their giving by asking the question, “Am I giving in a way that changes me and causes me to depend on God?” Sacrificial giving means that your lifestyle is impacted by your level of giving.
SURRENDERED GIVER:
This kind of giver asks, “God, what portion of what you’ve given me, do you want me to keep? Because I’m going to give the rest away for your purposes.” This is someone who then uses that decision to inform every other financial decision.
